Weekend Waiver Wire

Welcome fantasy managers to another edition of the Weekend Waiver Wire. It is time once again to take a look at what goaltenders may be available as a streaming option this weekend to help you take down your fantasy matchups. Let’s get to it!

Daniil Tarasov - Florida Panthers (3% Yahoo / 19% Fantrax) [@MIN - Sat / @CHI - Sun]

It’s safe to assume that Tarasov would be in line to start against Chicago on Sunday which is a decent landing spot for the Panthers backup netminder. Tarasov has had a nice little run of late with a 4-1-1 record over his last six starts with a 2.33 goals against and .911 save percentage in addition to a 2.97 goals saved above expected (GSAx). Conversely, the Blackhawks have been sputtering lately with a 3-4 record over their last seven games played while being outscored 20-14 in the process. Florida may be on a back-to-back, however, Chicago will be playing their third game in four nights versus the Panthers which is to say there isn’t much of an advantage for either club. Of note, the Panthers will be without the services of both Seth Jones as well as Dmitry Kulikov. Tarasov would be a speculative add, proceed with caution.

James Reimer - Ottawa Senators (6% Yahoo / 7% Fantrax) [CAR - Sat / VGK - Sun]

Hunter Shepard - Ottawa Senators (0% Yahoo / 2% Fantrax)

The Ottawa Senators are in a world of hurt as it relates to the teams goaltending since Linus Ullmark’s personal leave of absence. In their last twelve games since Ullmark’s injury the Senators have allowed an average of 3.67 goals against per games played which does not lend itself well to the fact that the Carolina Hurricanes are currently ranked fourth overall offensively at 3.37 goals for per games played, meanwhile the Vegas Golden Knights are not far behind sitting sixth overall offensively at 3.33 goals against per game played. That’s going to put a fair bit of pressure on the newly signed James Reimer or recent call up Hunter Shepard to come up big in order to keep the Sens playoff hopes alive. I’ll be fading Ottawa’s goaltending this weekend and you should as well.

Charlie Lindgren - Washington Capitals (8% Yahoo / 24% Fantrax) [@CGY - Fri / @EDM - Sat]

The Washington Capitals find themselves in a bit of a funk over the last number of weeks as the team attempts to right the ship which has sailed off course since flipping the calendar to 2026. Washington has stumbled in January with a rather pedestrian 3-8 record while being outscored by a 38-32 margin during that span, however a date with the rebuilding Calgary Flames could be just what the doctor ordered. One would assume that Charlie Lindgren will draw the start against the Flames while Logan Thompson would face the Oilers in the team's second game of a back-to-back. Lindgren is sporting a 7-6-2 record accompanied by a 3.25 goals against and .888 save percentage with one shoutout in addition to a -2.12 goals saved above expected which is a tad underwhelming. However, with the Flames offense ranked 31st overall at 2.52 goals for per game played, I’ll take a gamble on the Caps backup netminder to come out with a win.

Joel Hofer - St-Louis Blues (31% Yahoo / 47% Fantrax) [@DAL - Fri / LA - Sat]

Joel Hofer has had a fairly decent season considering he plays for the St-Louis Blues. Hofer has amassed a solid 11-10-2 record with a 2.73 goals against and .903 save percentage as well as four shutouts and a 3.41 goals saved above expected. Impressive if you consider the Blues own a -50 goal differential (tied for the league's worst w/ Vancouver), however, I’m not investing in Hofer’s portfolio this weekend. The combination of the Blues poor defensive play and anemic offense (ranked last in the NHL at 2.40 goals per game played) as well as the Kings solid road record (12-6-6) has me fading the Blues goaltending this week. Look for a more suitable option.

Jonas Johansson - Tampa Bay Lightning (4% Yahoo / 14% Fantrax) [@CHI - Fri / @CLB - Sat]

The Tampa Bay Lightning backup is quite simply a solid add to any roster this coming weekend…..how can he not be with the way the Lightning have been playing of late?! Tampa Bay has been on fire recently with a 9-0-1 record in their last ten games played, keep in mind that is without regulars such as Victor Hedman, Brayden Point and Ryan McDonagh just to name a few. Johansson is on a nice little run of late himself with a 3-0 record accompanied by a
2.67 goals against and .896 save percentage in addition to a 1.95 goals saved above expected. Regardless of which matchup Johansson receives, I’m quite confident in the big Swede coming out with a win in the hopes that can also deliver some decent peripherals as well.

There you have it folks, some streaming options to consider for your fantasy squad heading into the weekend.
