Well, the trade deadline has come and gone. There was a fair amount of action on the final day. Several goalie transactions were in the mix as well. We will examine some of these and the potential ramifications in the fantasy world.

The New Jersey Devils shook up their net. Whether or not it is for the better is debatable, but public opinion was that they had to try to do something to improve. The Devils net this year thus far has consisted of Vitek Vanecek, Nico Daws, and Akira Schmid. This three headed monster hasn’t put up very good numbers thus far. So, Vanecek was shipped out to the San Jose Sharks, and Kappo Kahkonen (18% owned on Fantrax and 5% owned on Yahoo) was brought in. Jake Allen (24% owned on Fantrax and 10% owned on Yahoo) was also acquired via the Montreal Canadiens. So, moving forward, we can expect to possibly see another three headed monster in the form of Allen/Kahkonen/Daws. There is no clear cut starter at the moment. Allen will probably get the first shot at the net. The Devils might give Kahkonen some time as well, as he will be a UFA next season and they will want to see what they have. Daws could be mixed, too. It’s anyone’s guess as to how this plays out. For both Allen and Kahkonen, New Jersey is a vastly improved team versus their former clubs. Thus, their stats could improve greatly. At this time, this crease should be avoided until we see who gets the playing time, unless you are desperate for goalie help. Allen would be the best bet though.

Jonathan Quick – New York Rangers (47% owned on Fantrax and 38% owned on Yahoo)
Quick has been mentioned several times before. He is still a solid option for spot starts when he plays, behind a strong Rangers team. He has stumbled a bit as of late, posting an 0-1 record, a 4.23 goal againstaAverage, a 0.902 save percentage, and 37 Saves over the past 14 days. He won’t help you this weekend, but looking ahead, he should get one start on Monday or Tuesday against the New Jersey Devils or the Carolina Hurricanes.

Charlie Lindgren – Washington Capital (42% owned on Fantrax and 31% owned on Yahoo)
Lindgren has taken over the crease from Darcy Kuemper. Over the last 14 days, Lindgren has started five games to Kuemper’s one. Over that time period, Lindgren has gone 2-2-1, with a 3.39 goal against average, a .886 save percentage, and 132 Saves. Not stellar stats by any means, but he has been getting the bulk of the starts. The Chicago Blackhawks are on tap Saturday in a potential juicy matchup.
