Weekend Waiver Wire

The fantasy playoffs are winding down. For most leagues, this is the last weekend! It’s do or die time! Whether you are needing a last-ditch effort spot start, or in the drivers seat and wanting to “block” your opponent in the free agent realm of goaltending, we have some recommendations to finish the season out strong!

Kevin Lankinen – Nashville Predators (11% owned on Fantrax and 5% owned on Yahoo)
Lankinen will get the start tonight (Friday April 12) against the second worst team in the NHL – the Chicago Blackhawks. Lankinen put up a quality start last time out, giving up one goal on 29 shots, but unfortunately picked up the loss against the New York Islanders. Over the last 30 days, Lankinen has started four games to Juuse Saros’ nine games. Thus, he is firmly entrenched in a backup role. In that timeframe, he has gone 1-2-0 with a 2.15 goals against average, a 0.939 save percentage, one shutout, and 107 Saves. On paper, this is an excellent spot start should you need it to round out your goalie categories.

Dustin Wolf – Calgary Flames (43% owned on Fantrax and 9% owned on Yahoo)
With Jacob Markstrom starting last night against the Los Angeles Kings, Wolf should get the second game of the back-to-back situation tonight. Wolf has put up decent numbers the past 30 days. He has gone 3-4-0, posting a 2.76 goals against average, a 0.910 save percentage, and 191 Saves. His opponent is a Columbus Blue Jackets team that has gone 3-7-0 in their past 10 games and sits dead last in the Eastern Conference this year.

Calvin Pickard – Edmonton Oilers (21% owned on Fantrax and 25% owned on Yahoo)
Pickard should man the crease tonight against the Arizona Coyotes, as he was the first goalie off in the morning skate. Over the past six games, Pickard has split time equally with Stuart Skinner. In that span, he has gone 2-1-0, with a 2.67 goals against average, a 0.910 save percentage, and 81 saves. Arizona is 3-3-0 over the past six games. But, with recent rumors of relocation to Salt Lake City, an away game in Edmonton and that distraction could provide Pickard with a quality start opportunity.
